Halo 3

Here’s some Halo 3 cheats!

All Skull Locations

Gold Skulls

IMPORTANT:to unlock any of the skulls start at the beggining of the level on either normal, heroic, or legendary!

1. Iron Skull (sierra 117)

The “Iron Skull” is located at the very end of the first level, “Sierra 117″. It is located behind the building where Sgt. Johnson is being held captive, up on the roof. You can gain access to the roof on the far right side of the building. Travel all the way over to the left side of the roof, and the Skull will be concealed in the corner.

2 black eye skull (crows nest)

This Skull is located in the beginning of the second level “Crow’s Nest”, the very room you start in. Hanging down from the ceiling is some piping. On top of this piping, on the side nearest to the large display (the one that Hood appears on) lies the “Black Eye Skull”.

3. Tough Luck Skull (tavoso highway)

The “tough luck skull” is found on the third level, at the point in the level when the huge covenant cruiser flies overhead. On your left is some large piping following the road you are walking on. Underneath this piping are some support beams that extend out over a cliff. Jump onto the first of these beams, and travel to the end of it. Look to your left, and the Tough Luck Skull will be sitting on a rock extending from a cliff edge.

4. Catch Skull (the storm)

The “Catch Skull” can be found on the fourth level, in the first area where you need to destroy the Wraith Tanks. When you enter this area, do not eliminate the Wraith Tanks (The skull appears when the tanks appear, and disappears when the tanks are destroyed). The Skull is located on top of the circular building next to the Anti-Air Tank. You can access the roof using a grenade jump, or jumping on the back of a hog.

5. Fog Skull (floodgate)

You have a small window of opportunity at this point, but it is fairly easy to get the Fog Skull. Look up, and to the right, directly at the roof of the building next to the missle launcher. There is a single flood form (not to be mistaken with the two other flood forms jumping in front of you) which is holding the skull. Kill him before he jumps, and he will drop the skull down to the ground where you can retrieve it. Too early, and the skull will get stuck on the roof though, so just time it carefully.

6. Famine Skull (the ark)

You can find the “Famine Skull” on the sixth level, near the point where the path you follow branches off into two sections (one leading to the area where you need to let the tanks across the bridge, and the other leading towards the area where you meet up with the frigate). Take the right path, as you would if you were completing the mission, and you’ll notice a structure above you / to the left of you (near the area where you encounter a few ghosts).

You need to scale the rocks to the right of the structure, and then travel across it so that you pass 3 of the large support beams extending into the cliffs. Inside of the fourth support beam, lies the Famine Skull. A well placed grenade should have you up there in no time!

7. Thunderstorm Skull (the covenant)

The “Thunderstorm Skull” can be found on the level, “The Covenant”, after you take command of one of the Hornet vehicles. Fly towards the second force field generator (the one the Arbiter disabled), and land. The skull is waiting at the very top, at the end of the ramp extending over the sea.

8. Tilt Skull (cortana)

The “Tilt Skull” is found on the level “Cortana”, in the circular room where Cortana mentions that she “Likes to play games too…”.

It’s a bit difficult to get to, as it requires getting on top of the ceiling of the room. Upon entering the room, head towards the left side where you will see some mushroom shaped extrusions along the wall. Get on top of these, and then look up and towards the right for another set of extrusions. Jump to these. From here, you should be able to jump on top of the ceiling of the room, where the Tilt Skull lies in the center.

9. Mythic Skull (halo)

This is probably the easiest Golden skull in the game to get. It is located in the very beginning of the final level in Halo 3. Begin by heading into the canyon, but hug the right wall. Very soon, you will notice that there is a turn to the right that is off the normal trail. Head a bit down this path, and the “mythic skull” will be sitting there.

Silver skulls

10. Blind Skull (sierra 117) Note: does not give you an acheivement)

After your first encounter with the Gold Armor Brute, Two enemy dropships will appear a bit further down the stream. Go towards the dropship that is furthest away, and stay on the right side of the stream. Continue along the right (towards the cliff edge), and a rock will jut out a bit over the large lake. The Blind Skull is located on this rock.

11. Grunt Birthday Party Skull (crows nest)

This is one of the more fun Silver Skulls in Halo 3. The “Grunt Birthday Party Skull” is located on the second mission, “Crow’s Nest”, just before the area where you team up with the Arbiter (it’s the piping area where you see Drones buzzing in and out of an array of pipes). Just before you jump down the pipe to meet up with the Arbiter, stop at the ledge, and look directly below you. Along the wall that you drop down, there is a small ledge with a green arrow pointing backwards. Jump onto this ledge (rather than all the way down), and go inside this secret room. The skull is in the dead center of the room.

12. Cowbell Skull (the ark)

Begin by heading all the way to the part of the level where you battle the Scarab. After defeating it, look in the middle of the desert area which you battled it in for a fairly large structure (it’s the building you see if you are at the bottom of the ramp you are supposed to go up, and turn to look in the opposite direction). Inside of this structure are several Gravity Lifts (shown below). Take one of these for later.

13. IWHBYD Skull (the covenant) Final skull!

The Skull is located in the level, “The Covenant”. After defeating the Scarabs, and going inside, get to the location with all 7 Ring Holograms. You must jump through the rings in a specific order. That order is as follows (1 is at the entrance, 7 is at the end):

4 6 5 4 5 3 4

All Halo 3 Armour Sets

Spartans

1. Mark VI

MARK VI Halo 3 Armor

The MARK VI Armor is the default armor assigned in Halo 3, and is not unlocked.  This is the same armor that you play with in the Campaign mode of the game.  It is the upgraded version of the MARK V Armor from the Original, “Halo: Combat Evolved”.

2. CQB

CQB Halo 3 Armor

The C.Q.B Armor Permutation in Halo 3 is unlocked by default. This armor variation features a knife on the “Body” section of the armor (not the blade on the back of the armor, which is unlocked after reaching 1000/1000 GS).

3. EVA

E.V.A Halo 3 Armor

To unlock the EVA Armor in Halo 3, you will need to complete a few different tasks.

  • To unlock the EVA “Body”, you will need to complete “Tsavo Highway” in Campaign mode on either Normal, Heroic, or Legendary.
  • To unlock the EVA “Shoulders”, you need to complete “The Ark” in Campaign mode on either Normal, Heroic, or Legendary.
  • To unlock the EVA “Helmet”, you will need to complete the Campaign on either Normal, Heroic, or Legendary.

4. EOD

E.O.D Halo 3 Armor

The EOD Armor set in Halo 3 is a bit more difficult to get than armor such as the eva set. Rather than beating campaign missions on Normal, or Heroic, you will need to beat them on the Legendary difficulty.

  • To unlock the EOD “Body”, beat “Tsavo Highway” on Legendary.
  • To unlock the EOD “Shoulders”, beat “The Ark” on Legendary.
  • To unlock the EOD “Helmet”, beat the Campaign on Legendary.

5. Hayabusa Armour (with sword)

Hayabusa Halo 3 Armor

Perhaps the most popular Halo 3 Armor variation on Xbox Live, the Hayabusa Armor (or “Ninja Armor” as many call it) is one of the trickier armors to unlock. To get the full set, you will need to unlock every Skull in the game.

  • To get the Hayabusa Body, unlock 5 Skulls.
  • To get the Hayabusa Shoulders, unlock 9 Skulls.
  • To get the Hayabusa Helmet, unlock all of the skulls.
  • To unlock the Hayabusa Sword Add-on (attaches to back of Body Armor), you’ll need to unlock all of the achievements in Halo 3 (1000/1000 GS).

6. Flaming Hayabusa Helmet

Flaming Hayabusa Helmet in Halo 3

As if keeping the recon armour for themselves wasn’t enough, Bungie went ahead and added one of the coolest things we’ve ever seen, and then restricted it to Bungie Team members only. The Flaming Helmet is identical to a regular helmet, only it’s… well… flaming.

We’ve seen some awesome photos of the helmet in action on Bungie Team members profile pages (the one above was taken from billy77bones). We’d love to see some downloadable content soon so that we can get our hands on these gems, but we’re not holding our breath

7. Security Armour

You unlock the Security Armor in Halo 3 by getting Gamerscore in the game (ie: Unlock achievements). To get the Shoulder Armor, you will need to rack up a whopping 700-850 GS (it seems to vary for some reason).

Note: There is a known glitch in the game that will not allow players to unlock the Security Shoulders sometimes.

Halo 3 Marathon Helmet

This might be one of the last pieces of Armor you unlock in the game, as it requires all of the achievements in Halo 3 in order to unlock it. That’s right. You need 1000/1000 GS on Halo 3 to unlock the Security Helmet.

8. Scout Armour

Halo 3 Scout Armor

Unlocking the Scout Armor permutation in Halo 3 requires unlocking several achievements in the game:

  • To unlock the Scout “Body” Armor, unlock the “Too Close to the Sun” achievement.
  • To unlock the Scout “Shoulders” Armor, unlock the “Mongoose Mowdown” achievement.
  • To unlock the Scout “Helmet” Armor, unlock the “Used Car Salesman” achievement.

9. ODST Armour

ODST Helmet Halo 3 Armor

Halo 3 ODST Helmet

The ODST (Orbital Drop Shock Troopers) Helmet is a standalone piece of unlockable armor.  It does not have shoulders or a body piece, but you can mix and match with other sets.  To get this Helmet, you’ll need to become a “Spartan Graduate”.  Simply reach the rank of Private in Xbox Live matchmaking to unlock the ODST Helmet.

10. Mark V Helmet

MARK 5 Helmet

Remember the classic “MARK V” armor from the original “Halo: Combat Evolved”? Well, you can bring back the MARK V Helmet by unlocking the “UNSC Spartan” achievement. Reach a rank in matchmaking of Sergeant Online, and the helmet is yours!

11. Rougue Helmet

Halo 3 Rogue Helmet

You’ll need to play online in matchmaking quite a bit to unlock the “Rogue Helmet” in Halo 3.  In order to unlock this armor piece, you need to get the “Spartan Officer” achievement (reach the spartan Officer ranks online).  It’s been dubbed the “Ninja Turtle” helmet by some.

12. Recon Armour

Recon Helmet in Halo 3

Looks like Bungie wanted something to let them stand out among fellow gamers in Halo 3. There is a set of Armor (Recon), and a Helmet (Flaming Hayabusa) which can only be worn by Bungie Team members and select community members.

Perhaps later on, Bungie will make this content accessible to all, or maybe even give the armor away in contests/competitions.

We’ll have to wait and find out for the time being.

Elites

1. Combat Armour

Combat Armor in Halo 3 for Elites

The  “Combat Armor” is the default Armor set for elites, and the most recognizable (as it is the standard issue Elite Armor from the Halo Trilogy).  This armor set is unlocked and ready for use by default, and can be accessed by switching your player’s model to “Elite”.

2. Assault Armour

Halo 3 Assault Armor for Elites

The “Assault Armor” is another default armor set for the Elite player model, and does not have to be unlocked.  You may recognize this armor set from the “Heretics” who wore it in Halo 2.  It features a slick helmet that produces some really great reflection effects.

3. Flight Armour

Flight Armor in Halo 3

The “Flight Armor” is from the Jetpack Elites from Halo 2, and is now an unlockable armor set in Halo 3.  In order to unlock it, you will need to complete a few different tasks in Campaign mode of Halo 3:

  • For the “Flight” Body, you will need to beat “Tsavo Highway” on either Heroic, or Legendary Difficulty Setting.
  • For the “Flight” Shoulders, you will need to beat “The Ark” on either Heroic, or Legendary Difficulty Setting.
  • For the “Flight” Helmet, you will need to beat Halo 3 or either Heroic or Legendary difficulty settings.

4. Ascetic Armour

You’ll need to grab a few achievements in Halo 3 before acquiring the full Ascetic Armor set for the Elite Player model:

  • For the “Ascetic” Body, you need to unlock the “Up Close and Personal” achievement.
  • For the “Ascetic” Shoulders, you need to unlock the “Overkill” achievement.
  • For the “Ascetic” Helmet, you need to unlock the “Steppin’ Razor” achievement.

5. Commando Armour

05CommandoLeftShot.jpg 05 Commando Left Shot image by BTHR_Zero_X

There have been reports of bugs with the Elite “Commando” Armor being unlocked from some players.  For some reason, pieces of the armor set are not being unlocked, and we do expect a fix from Bugnie sooner or later.  To unlock the armor permutation, here is what has to be done:

  • To unlock the “Commando” Body, you need to complete the “Triple Kill” achievement.
  • To unlock the “Commando” Shoulders, you need to complete the “Killing Frenzy” achievement.
  • To unlock the “Commando” Helmet, you need to complete the “Overkill” achievement.
